TBE YOM KIPPUR INFORMATION

CHILDREN’S SERVICES:
Children’s programming will begin at about 10:00 am on Yom Kippur. Rabbi David will join the children at about 11:15 am each morning for a short service. Participating children are expected to be accompanied by a parent.
CHILDCARE:
We will provide “quiet time” child-care for kindergarten and preschool aged children during Erev Rosh Hashanah and Kol Nidre, as well as the first day of Rosh Hashanah and for Yom Kippur morning services.
The Williamsburg Unitarian Universalist building is located at 3051 Ironbound Road.
All services on Yom Kippur will be held at the Williamsburg Unitarian Universalist building, on Ironbound Road, on September 29th and 30th. Kol Nidre services will begin at 7pm on Friday night. Yom Kippur morning services start at 9am Saturday morning, with Children’s Programming again starting at 10am, and a visit from Rabbi David starting around 11:15. Yizkor will begin at approximately 1pm. Mincha and Neilah will start at 5:15pm, with the community Break Fast beginning at approximately 7:40 pm

ADMISSION:
Temple Beth El membership allows you and everyone in your household, including children up through age 22, to attend our services. Guests are always welcome. Adult children over the age of 22 and other relatives of TBE members are each asked to make a donation of $50 to TBE. Guests attending services who are not relatives of TBE members are asked to make a donation of $100 per person. Guest reservations may be obtained by calling the synagogue office at (757) 220-1205 prior to the holidays. As a reminder, Temple Beth El does not issue tickets – just identify yourself at the table near the entrance.
ONEG YOM TOV, KIDDUSH, AND BREAK FAST:
There will be an Oneg Yom Tov social gathering after the Erev Rosh Hashanah service. All households are asked to bring dessert to share, or to donate to the supplies fund. There will also be a potluck Break Fast after the Yom Kippur Havdallah service, beginning approximately at 7:45 pm. All families are asked to bring a dairy, vegetarian or fish (tuna, lox, gefilte, and salmon are acceptable) main dish large enough to feed your family plus at least four other people. Volunteers to set up and clean up for either or both of these functions should contact the TBE office (office@tbewilliamsburg.org) .
Following Rosh Hashanah Day-2 services at TBE, there will be a Kiddush. Those attending services with last names starting with A-M are asked to bring a main dish, those with last names starting with N-Z are asked to bring a dessert. All food should be Kosher dairy and conform with the TBE food policy (lower right of www.tbewilliamsburg.org).
YIZKOR:
During our Yizkor/Memorial Service, we read the names of our deceased loved ones. The names that are read are taken directly from our database, which is obtained from information you provided on your membership demographic form. If you did not submit this information and wish to make corrections and/or add names to your existing Yizkor list, please submit them immediately by emailing office@tbewilliamsburg.org.
SCHOOL-EXCUSED ABSENCES:
It is important for you and your children to know that the area school systems consider attendance at these religious services to be excused absences. Letters have been sent to the local school superintendents requesting that they ask teachers to be understanding with their students who are absent because of the High Holy Days. If your student encounters any issues with the school, please contact Rabbi David immediately.
DONATIONS:
Donations are customary this time of year. We welcome your donations to our High Holy Days Fund in honor or memory of a loved one and your gifts to any fund of your choice.
