Temple Beth El is the central gathering place in the Greater Williamsburg region for Jewish worship, learning, life cycle commemoration, and Jewish social events. As the only synagogue in the area, we have chosen to be unaffiliated in order to best serve the needs of our diverse community. We embrace Jews of different backgrounds and welcome interfaith families.

We are a participatory community. Each member is encouraged to make a contribution to our TBE Jewish life. Our energetic congregation continues to launch new social and community-building activities. Some of our members have formed adult and youth klezmer bands, a book club, and Hevra Kadisha. We sponsor the Virginia Peninsula Jewish Film Festival. Monthly, we have a Shabbat Kulanu service designed to be accessible and fun for all ages, a shorter Shabbat Zakein service for the elderly, and celebrate many Jewish holidays with religious and social events. Members receive weekly “E-News” to stay up-to-date on happenings in the community.
